Former policies for job creation were based on infrastructure building since it was a practical way for the government to invest in the economy and put people to work. Today, we do not need to create infrastructure projects, but rather repair and replace those that are no longer functional. We should put people to work to fix broken-down and obsolete infrastructures. According to the AFL-CIO, America still has at least $3 trillion in unmet infrastructure needs. Hundreds of bridges, roads and highways are in grave conditions and represent a danger to the community. Also, currently public transportation systems are not available in some areas of the country. At an age of energy concerns, public transportations should be available and efficient for the community to use. Schools buildings, hospitals and other public buildings need to adapt to new green and security standards for our kids and patients security and welfare. These kinds of needed investments are always postponed because of money or other priorities. Now it is time to consider it and conciliate both jobs creation and public needs. Comments
